As an experienced speaker, Julie is eager to address conference and university audiences, talk to organizational groups, start community conversations, or join panel discussions with topics that further understanding and support of transgender, gender-nonconforming or gender diverse children and youth. She’s adept at helping people navigate the new language of gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation. As the parent of an nonbinary genderqueer young adult, Julie is passionate about helping parents who may just now be learning about and struggling with their child’s gender identity.
“Julie engages her audience and brings to light the challenges all parents face in raising their children today. She’s honest, inspiring and knows what she’s talking about.”
“What makes Julie’s presentation so marvelous is her relatability. She could be the PTA mother you have a nodding acquaintance with, the neighbor down the street, a coworker whose desk is next to yours. Her story – and her son’s story – is presented with honesty, humor and intelligence. And her warmth and accessibility open the floodgates for questions, concerns and comments on a topic that has been a closely guarded secret for many years. Highly, highly recommended.”
“Some presenters just talk. Others, like Julie Tarney, change lives. We’re still hearing from people about how insightful she was and how much they learned.”
“Julie’s presentation was fantastic. She’s captivating, charming and energetic. Everyone appreciated her ability to talk about gender nonconformity in terms easy enough for us to share with others.”
“People in our community are still talking about Julie’s presentation. She has a wonderful sense of humor and was able to take some confusing ideas about gender and children, and present them in an engaging and inspiring way. I highly recommend Julie as a speaker for any audience.”
“Julie speaks from the heart with an energy and passion that are contagious. She’s a wonderful storyteller and really connected with her audience.”
